It is celebrated after a month of dawn-to-sunset fasting called Puasa. This fasting is carried out throughout the month of Ramadhan (the 9th month in the Islamic calendar). It is customary for families to return to their hometown to celebrate with their relatives and ask forgiveness from their parents, parents, in-laws and other elders for their shortcomings.Children are given green packets containing money, known as ‘duit raya’ as a reward for successfully fasting. They often play with sparklers (bunga api) to raise the festive mood. Besides that, some families would host an ‘open house’ or ‘rumah buka’ in which they would invite other families and friends over to their house to join in the celebration. Many festive foods such as curry chicken, beef rendang, ketupat and many more will be served.Reference:http://www.langkawi-gazette.com/malaysia-s-festivals/2012-hari-raya-puasaHari HajiHari Haji, also known as Eid al-Adha, also called the “Sacrifice Beast” is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of obedience to God’s command.According to some fiqh (traditional Islamic law), Men should go to mosque—or an Eidgah (a field where eid prayer held)—to perform eid prayer, women are also highly encouraged to attend, although it is not compulsory. The Eid al-Adha prayer is performed any time after the sun completely rises up to just before the entering of Zuhr time, on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah. In the event of a force majeure (e.g. natural disaster), the prayer may be delayed to the 11th of Dhu al-Hijjah and then to the 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah.During Eid al-Adha, the Muslims will organize plenty of charity events to raise funds for the other poor Muslims to partake the sacrificial meals. Other than that, a major part of the meat that cut off from the sacrificed animals are distributed for the poor people.Maulidur RasulMaulidur Rasul is held on the  12th of Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month in the Islamic calendar. This festive day is to celebrate the birthday of Islamic prophet Muhammad. Many homes will put up decorations and parades are held throughout the streets. Food is handed out as charity for those who are in need. Many locals participate to express their love for prophet Muhammad and as appreciation for all his contributions and sacrifices by reciting poetry about his life.Reference:http://pmr.penerangan.gov.my/index.php/agama/8524-maulidur-rasul-keperibadian-terpuji-perjuangan-dihayati.html
