you to come face-to-face with your inner self.
It reminds you of what’s important, what you value, and where you want
battle, overcoming fears, and entering territory laced with unknowns allows YOU
to create a narrative. You can tell the story of how you were challenged, met
that challenge, and became a new and better self.
obstacle says you’re worthy of more. Each adverse moment reveals an opportunity
to develop, grow, and triumph. It allows you to demonstrate that you have what
it takes and that you will forge ahead with grit and creativity.
Smile in the
face of adversity and any obstacle that life lobs at you (or that you seek) by
improving in spite of it, and because of it.
In the 1940s, a
brilliant doctor named Viktor Frankl was imprisoned in a concentration camp. They took away his livelihood,
seized his possessions, mocked his dignity, and killed his family. They
confined him to a cell with no way out and no way to escape his circumstances.
However, in spite of this, he states:
“Everything can be taken from a man but
one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any
given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
We are all going
to face problems and setbacks. The solution is not to avoid problems. Quite the contrary! We need the character to
forge ahead. Our growth is dependent on how we face those problems. Growth is
not the ability to avoid problems. Instead, growth is the ability to handle
larger and more interesting problems.
Life is a
process of overcoming barriers – a string of fortified boundaries and limits
that we must transcend. Each time you’ll learn something. Each time you’ll
develop wisdom, discernment, strength, and a new outlook. Each time, fear and
doubt fall away, until all that is left is you: THE BEST version of you.
“I must not fear. Fear is
the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I
will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it
has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has
gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” ~ Frank Herbert
Today, you can
be eager, enthusiastic and cheerful…knowing that adversity will not get the
best of you. You can be victorious and triumphant.
