Fair and lovely
girls —

Being a girl I’m
frequently caught by the thought that why the girls mainly in South Asia are
preferred and discarded based on the color of our skin?

I was born with
a fairer skin tone and thanks to the hot weather I had soon turned into a
tanner looking girl. I never realized it was such a crime that comparisons
would be made between me and my all cousin sisters who were fairer. “Mirror
mirror who’s the fairest?” and I had never heard it murmuring my name,

In order to dig
out the cause behind this ruthless discrimination I certainly accept the fact
that we are much influenced by the western community. “Goray” are the apple of
our eyes; we love them so much that we become uncomfortable in our own skin.
Girls are the victim of this discrimination — be it any job or marriage
proposal the selection is based on “good looks”, most often.

While fostering
this aspect we discard unintentionally the human value, people are judged and
respected based on their out shell rather inner self. Sadly, girls are taught
to become “hot” for them to have a safe survival in our society whereas I
strongly advocate the “self-acceptance” mechanism to combat every day’s challenges.

Another much
heard is the age complex — Botox is the solution, tee hee! Age gives grace,
experience injects in the wisdom and for sure nothing is static in this world
then why on earth we are horrified with the thoughts of getting old? While
telling out your age, firstly girls never tell their age and secondly if by
force they plan to do so then it always goes through subtraction method, real
age – 5 years = hot age.

Religiously and
culturally we as a nation were never under these pressures, in fact we must uplift
the human value and dignity. Let’s divert our energies towards the better cause
where we nurture the hidden talents that benefit U and me. Forgoing our ethics
will embed larger complexes into our minds where we would continue to have
endless prejudicial attitudes. This hostility will smoothly drive us to the
land where we are almost there already.

complexes, lunatic tactics behind the sale of a brand has caused a thin line
between the fair and tanner. Today, Pakistan is being crushed and grave
problems have a wagging tail and we are crying over least important issues.

The crime is not
to be “not fair” but to be unfair in judging others based on their outer
appearance. Barack Obama wasn’t detained based on the color of his skin, Nelson
Mandela brought revolution and remains to be most admired across the world,
Oprah Winfrey the lady who agitated the charm and her talk show ranked highest,
Beyoncé Knowles the entertainer competing flawlessly and the list goes on.

This element of
change require rebirth within every soul in order to give a mild dose of
emotions to our society. Today we pass on the derogatory comments on others and
ignore the fact that tomorrow they would come around. If we plunge deeply into
the roots of our culture we are a noble society that promotes equality and
encompass a humble tone. Over the years we are leaking out our frustration in
the form of a judgmental observation and derogatory comments. Furthermore, in
Islam we all stand equal to one another and it demarcates the differences between the white and black.
Now, it’s our task to eliminate the discriminatory expression which is
unprogressive and un-acceptable. Why to target our own sisters and daughters
based on the outer shell which never guarantees the inner soul. The society
must give equal space to the vast community where we progress and produce
beneficial results based on one’s talent and sheer hard work. Similarly,
marriage proposals must precedewith endearing likeness rather the bunch of
x-ray machines scanning the skin colors and analyzing the features. The
features of one’s personality — ethics, decency and religious grip must not
be bitten by the derogatory expressions.

It’s a high time to regain the lost pride of our
culture and disqualify judgmental and discriminatory attitudes which is
attaining quench for quite some time now.
