For the first part of the final I have decided to write on “The Great War” also known as World War 1. World War 1 started with the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. Franz Ferdinand was assassinated on June 28, 1914 along with his wife Sophie. Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip. were many issues during World War `1 such as the trenches, shell shock and gases. There were many different diseases and dangers that came from the trenches such as trench foot, trench fever. Trench foot is a medical condition that comes from the exposure of feet to damp, unsanitary, and cold conditions. Trench fever is a clinical syndrome caused by an infection from Bartonella quintana. The trenches were filled with mud and water, the trenches were also dangerous because of the fear of enemy attack, artillery bombing, gas attacks and rats. Some soldiers also suffered from “shell shock” which is a type of post-traumatic stress disorder. Many soldiers had to face this because it is a natural reaction to the intensity of bombardement and fighting in warfare, it is a panic and being scared that stops a person from being able to sleep, walk or talk. The major countries during World War 1 was Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States and they were known as “The Allies” and they were at war against Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria and they were known as the “Central Powers”. War 1 first started because of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and was a local war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia but grew into a war that had involved 32 countries. The Allies at war against the Central Powers. The countries Britain, France and Germany all had large armies and they all wanted to sell products to foreign countries.  A few days after the assassination,  Austria declared war on Serbia and then Germany declared war on France along with Russia. From then on countries started to take sides and started declaring war on eachother. conclusion what I think we should take away from World War 1 is that war is always unpredictable. You never know what is going to happen when you are in war. You never know what tomorrow will bring. One day you could be on the winning side and another you could be on the losing side. Do you think that the Central Powers knew that Russia would back out of the war because of their own issues back at their home? Or that when Russia leaves the war that the United States would take Russia’s place with fresh troops giving the allies the upper hand on the war? You never know what is going to happen because things can change at any moment.
