Math: human vs calculatorWhen is a calculator better than a human or vice versa? How does a calculator need to be in order to satisfy our necessities? What size does a calculator need to operate as a human?Which one is more reliable and easy to use? Many modern calculators have a durable plastic casing, with simple openings in the front that allow rubber to push through, just like a television remote. By pressing a button, you complete a circuit underneath the rubber, which sends electrical impulses through a circuit board below. Those impulses are routed through the microprocessor, which interprets the information and sends a readout to the calculator’s display screen.Types of calculatorsDisplay CalculatorsScientific CalculatorsGraphing CalculatorsFinancial CalculatorsPrinting CalculatorsDisplay Calculators: are the most common and basic calculators available. They perform basic math operations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Many display calculators also have a small memory to store the result. These calculators usually contain an LCD display and many are powered by solar cells. Scientific Calculators: are more advanced than basic calculators. They perform trigonometric functions and have a larger memory. Graphing Calculators: perform even more advanced functions than scientific calculators. They have larger memories and are able to store and graph equations. As a result, graphing calculators have a larger screen to display the graphs. Financial Calculators: are specially designed to perform financial calculations. Printing Calculators: contain a roll of paper on which they print the input and results. These figures are displayed on the screen as well. Most printing calculators perform only basic mathematical functionsThe fundamental difference between a calculator and computer is that a computer can be programmed in a way that allows the program to take different branches according to intermediate results, while calculators are pre-designed with specific functions (such as addition, multiplication, and logarithms) built in. The distinction is not clear-cut: some devices classed as programmable calculators have programming functions, sometimes with support for programming languagesWhen is a calculator better than a human or vice versa? How does a calculator need to be in order to satisfy our necessities? What size does a calculator need to operate as a human?Which one is more reliable and easy to use? ESS: Gunayalas and their islandsWhat environmental value system do they have? What is their ecological footprint? How much do they pollute? Are the areas that are inhabited by them more or less polluted? Who polluted them? Are they conscious of the degradation of the environment and the climate change?Did the western society influenced in their ecological behaviour?Do all the islanders share a common opinion towards this topic?Guna Yala was the first semi-autonomous indigenous territory of the Guna people to be established in Panama in 1954 and is made up of the San Blas Archipelago, which contains more than 400 coral islands and a forested strip of land from the Caribbean coast to the continental divide. The use of Guna knowledge systems in environmental management underscores the way that the social and ecological are linked in physical, temporal, and spiritual ways. These links raise important considerations for those concerned with the social and human agency aspects of managing adaptation and transformation. These are particularly relevant if indigenous knowledge about the environment is viewed as a system through which Guna people understand and engage in the world .The Guna peoples today still depend largely on agriculture, fishing, hunting, and gathering for their livelihoods. Increasingly, this once-isolated region of Panama is more connected to the world through improved transportation into the territory and upgraded telecommunications systems. As a result, subsistence activities are now supplemented with revenue-generating activities such as the sale of some marine species, which could end in some endangerment of autoctone species, as the extreme haunting of those could cause a disorder in the local food web.Despite these shifts in livelihood activities and the modernizing narrative, the Guna continue to demonstrate high levels of social cohesion and village life, which is still largely managed through their traditional governance mechanisms.
