My ambition to study a child orientated course at university stems from my passion to educate children. I have a lot of experience working with children as practically all of my working life I have been working with them, in both schools and pre-schools. My dream would be to study a child orientated course at university and gain new skills and understanding. Currently I work for an agency called ‘Teaching Personnel’ in Northampton, my job involves visiting various different SEN and non-SEN schools throughout the county, and working as a teaching assistant. My daily activities usually include: setting up the outdoor play areas, encouraging good behaviour at all times, comforting the children who are upset, encouraging the children to focus and listen to the teacher and encouraging creativity.Previously I worked for a primary school in London since 2008, as both a mid-day supervisor and SEN teaching assistant. I began as a parent volunteer helping out in the reception class, and was then given the opportunity to complete my NVQ level 2 work placement at the school. I have attended many different staff training days where I learnt about safe-guarding, methods of behaviour management and child protection. I have also attended an inset where we were taught about how to organise engaging games for the children and how to get involved in their games to encourage positive behaviour in the playground. I always ensure that eery child gets an equal opportunity when in school. For a part of my employment with this school, I was a SEN teaching assistant for a child with autism. I worked on a one to one basis with this child, adapting teaching methods to his educational needs ensuring he was given the best possible opportunity to learn. As well as this I ensured he was happy at all times and enjoyed his time at school. A few years before this I did a 1 year placement at a pre-school whilst studying for my Early Years Care & Education Level 2 qualification at college, this allowed me to gain experience working with very young children, and again highlighted my passion for children. I then went on to study for the CACHE Level 2 certificate for Teaching Assistants a few years on, and achieved a Merit. My dream would be to study more, and expand my knowledge. I believe given the opportunity to learn I could flourish and achieve academic excellence.
