The canon 6d was a show stealer in Photography arena when it arrived in 2012. The successor to the highly popular Camera was expected and landed just at the right time when competition started to take things forward. The Canon 6D mark II is just the perfect full frame photography gear for all Canon lovers if they are not willing to pay a hefty price for a flagship performer. The camera will have to compete against giants like the Nikon D750. But will it stand to its name and reputation? We’ll find out in this review SpecificationBefore talking of the spec sheet it’s always a nice idea to look at the price tag that makes things easier to judge. The Canon 6D Mark ii with 24-104mm kit lens is available for INR 1,60,00 (roughly $24000). Now Taking a quick look at the specification, one can easily notice a big upgrade from its ancestor and why not, times have changed since the father was born. ? 26.2 MP Full Frame with Dual Pixel Auto Focus both in Still and Video? 1080p video at 60 fps with digital stabilization? 45 point cross focus system? ISO 100-40000 (expandable upto 102,400)? 3 inch Rotating display? Built in Wifi,Bluetooth and GPS? Continuous Shooting upto 6.5 fps? Single card slotBuilt Once you’ll hold the camera, you will know its compact and lightweight yet comfy. Even someone with big hands would love to take it to shoots. The body of the camera is particularly upto Canon standards and we love what Canon does. One of the biggest treat about using this camera is the rotating screen which was missing on the original Canon 6D. Its makes shooting photos at weird angles much tidy, particularly overhead shots. This time screen is a touch panel which comes handy to quickly focus on its great focusing system(we’ll come to that later). All the buttons are placed at an easily reachable spot and you won’t we looking up to find the correct one. That being been said the mode dial on the top left is a click lock circle and can create some delay when you need to quickly change the modes. Another big plus this time is the weather sealed body which was once limited to flagship models. The viewfinder works the way it should, nothing fancy though. All in all the camera is really well built and addition of weather sealing will insist you taking it along every time you step out of the house. What’s New ? (vs Canon 6D)The ones owning the older Canon 6D would be really eager for this and by no means this section is disappointing. ? The very first change you’ll notice looking at spec sheet is the higher MegaPixel count from 20.2 to 20.6.? The new Dual Pixel focusing system is now much faster especially in low light.? The screen is no more fixed and can be rotated.? Video upto 60 fps at 1080p VS 30 fps? 45 Point autofocus map against 11 point .? A much faster image processor capable of shooting upto 6.5 fps? A bigger battery that can take an extra 200 shotsPros? The image quality is much superior compared to its competition and already good Canon 6D with decent amount of saturation levels and details at 100% crop, thanks to the bigger 26.2 MP sensor.? Autofocus is lightning fast, it’s almost as good as any camera out there in any price bracket. No matter you are shooting videos or photos at day or night, the autofcous won’t let you down in any case? A new and compact weather sealed body is easy to carry in harsh weather conditions, this one will be great for one’s who travel a lot.? Low noise upto ISO 3200, astrophotography is going to be one big treat for photographers who loves to shoot in wilderness as weather sealing also helps.? The quality of videos is above average and canon’s implementation of digital stabilization helps to avoid choppy frames. Rich colors, smooth skin tones and highly detailed videos are here.? Screen is highly responsive with finger touch and Vlogs can be easily come out the way you desire due to its rotating panel that can go upto 180 degrees.Cons? A single card slot! That’s not what you expect from a camera at this price point considering that you won’t be looking for a new one in the near future. Dual slots are missed and should have been incorporated.? No video at 4K. I don’t why Canon has skipped on this one. At times when people love to put things up on Youtube and 4k is getting common, you cannot limit your $2400 camera to 1080p.? No slow motion video even at 120 fps. Slow motion videos are great for small films and travel videos and you will miss it here. The fastest you can go is 60 fps which is a big let down.VerdictThe new Canon 6D mark ii is a solid camera and will serve semi professionals right. Even professionals who need to carry an extra body can look for this versatile offering from Canon. The image quality is top notch with extremely fast autofocus. Low light performance is on par with some of the best out there. Videos are balanced with adequate amount of everything you need. The only thing you need to comprise here would be the high resolution video. We think that the Canon 6D Mark ii has got all the major points right and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone out there.
