The Little Rock Nine, is about the first nine Black/African American people to ever go to a all white school. Their names were Melba Pattillo Beals, Minnijean Brown, Elizabeth Eckford, Ernest Green, Gloria Ray Karlmark, Carlotta Walls LaNier, Thelma Mothershed, Terrence Roberts, and Jefferson Thomas. They all had a major impact on history, but today we are going to talk about Ernest Green.   Ernest Green was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on September 22, 1941. He was one of the first Blacks/African Americans students to integrate at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, following the Supreme Court ruling to desegregate in 1954. Ernest Green is the oldest of the “Little Rock Nine,” a group of high school students who entered Central High School on the morning of September 25,1967.   When the Little Rock Nine went to the school on the morning of September 25,1967. They came on the bus for their first day of school and, they were shunned. Riots of people hoarding around the bus with hate poster about racial kind, and saying racial slurs to them. Some of the girls on the bus started to cry,but they stayed strong. They got off the bus and the riot followed them saying the same things over, and over again. But, when they wanted to go inside of their new school they weren’t allowed inside Arkansas National Guard turned the nine students away from the school.   The Little Rock Nine got many threats to stay away from the school.. If they were not listened to they got threats like “I’ll kill your family”…”We’ll hang you from the trees”…”I’ll blow you up,”…Etc. The Little Rock Nine never gave in, but once they got these threats President D. Wright Eisenhower decided  to send in the 101st Airborne Division to protect them throughout the whole school year from threats, riots, and even other students that go to the school.  When the protesters found out that the “Little Rock Nine”, were still going to attend school they were infuriated. Despite all the things that had happened to the “Little Rock Nine” they were still eager to attend this High School no matter what others thought, or said about them. The “Little Rock Nine”, pulled up in-front of the school the next day but they were met with a large rioting crowd against them. Ernest the eldest of the “Little Rock Nine”, took charge and told everyone what to do like saying…”Stay near the 101st Airborne Division they’ll protect you it’s their duty.” So that they did and got to class safely. Even though they were like outsider to their classes and the whole entire school, they sought to graduate.   Ernest Gideon Green was the oldest out of the “Little Rock Nine”,he was in his senior year at Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas. Ernest got the most hate out of all the “Little Rock Nine”, since Ernest was a senior at Central High in Little Rock he was also the closest to graduating from Little Rock, and that would make him the first Black/African American to graduate from an all white school in the United States of America.   When many people found out that Ernest was in his senior year many people were infuriated by the act. They didn’t want a Black/African American to graduate from their school cause they thought it was a “Disobedience from god himself.” Ernest got many death threats for his family and himself, many people to to stab, beat, and hang his very own family but that only made Ernest want to graduate more than ever just to prove himself to the white community that we all can stand as peers at the same levels as anyone else.   When Ernest Gideon Green was at the end of his high school year at Central High he had more hate towards him more than ever. Ernest got many notes to not be at the graduation nor near the graduation just not to embarrass the school and the school board.
